Role Descriptions
- The Sales and Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, fostering key partnerships, and identifying new business opportunities within the aviation industry.
- It will play a critical role in expanding our market presence, increasing sales revenue, and strengthening customer relationships.
- Develop, implement, and direct Sales and Business management processes to maximise & optimise route revenues and profitability.
- Maximise business opportunities through a combination of accurate analysis and forecasting to determine optimal capacity allocation and demand management.
- Identify business growth priorities and ensure that Network Planning activities are delivered in such a way as to add maximum value to the business.
- Drive the Sales and Business Development team to ensure maximised revenue for Air Peace from Airport Sales, Travel Agencies and Corporate Sales.
- Develop and drive the development and delivery of an optimal network plan that ensures sustained growth and profitability.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market expansion objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and lead generation activities.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, travel agencies, corporate accounts, and industry stakeholders to maximise sales opportunities.
- Lead negotiations and contract discussions with customers to secure profitable business deals and partnerships.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and strategic growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Commercials, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, to develop tailored solutions and offerings to meet customer needs.
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective clients, showcasing the value proposition of our airline services.
- Monitor and evaluate sales performance metrics, track progress against targets, and provide regular reports and analysis to senior management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging market developments to inform strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote brand awareness and establish strategic partnerships.
- Provide input and participate in the identification and development of new business opportunities for Revenue growth.
- Participate in APL’s revenue budget process to ensure Revenue projections are optimal and in line with historical and projected trends.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate Revenue Management systems to enhance productivity, efficiency and maximisation of revenue.
- Lead, develop and coach the sales and business development team to support key financial goals.
- Drive an increase in operating efficiency and utilisation of resources for revenue growth.
- Improve sales and marketing processes directly via the website, Call Centre, Sales Agents and indirectly via Tour Operators, General Sales Agents (GSA) and Global Distribution Systems (GDS).
- Provide inspiring and energising leadership to the team through coaching, people development and succession plans.
- Active input in the development of corporate strategies.-Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvements.
- Manage departmental budget to meet strategic and operational business plans of the company.
- Assist in embedding a commercial, client service-focused approach to all business processes and activities, while ensuring all statutory obligations are met.
Job Specification (Key Result Areas)
- Reports indicate incremental revenue from higher yields and improved Load factors.
- Pricing strategy for all markets with monthly reports on targets vs achieved.
- 100% accurate display of tariffs and Sales Volume.
- Regular reports on the performance of pricing strategic actions.
- Incremental revenue & growth in APL’s partnerships (Corporate clients, Travel Agencies)
- The annual Revenue budget plan with well-analysed average fares and capacity forecasts.
- Improved automation of the Revenue Management processes.
- The monthly overhead report below or the meeting set targets on expenditure.
- Accurate filing and distribution of all fares, visible to all distribution channels.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; MBA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Proven track record of success in sales and business development roles within the airline or aviation industry, with a minimum of [10] years of experience.
- Strong understanding of airline industry dynamics, market trends, and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads, negotiate contracts, and close deals to achieve revenue targets.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and partners.
- Strategic thinker with analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
- Results-driven, self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office suite, and other relevant sales and marketing tools.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure, especially during peak hours or intense situations.
- Exceptional customer service, verbal, and written communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong coaching and leadership skills, ability to motivate employees.
