Business Day Newspaper – Established in 2001, is a daily business newspaper based in Lagos. It is the only Nigerian newspaper with a bureau in Accra, Ghana. It has both daily and Sunday titles. It circulates in Nigeria and Ghana.

Job Description

  1. As a Sales Executive, your primary responsibility is to generate revenue by selling BD products across various media platforms, such as print, radio, television, and digital.
  2. This role requires strong sales skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the media industry.

Job Responsibilities
Sales and Revenue Generation:

  1. Identify and prospect potential clients, including local businesses, corporations, advertising agencies, and other relevant entities.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with existing clients, ensuring repeat business and customer satisfaction.
  3. Meet or exceed sales targets by pitching across various media platforms.
  4. Prepare and present persuasive sales proposals, highlighting the benefits and value of advertising in the media house.
  5. Negotiate sales rates, terms, and contracts with clients, striving for mutually beneficial agreements.

Client Relationship Management:

  1. Understand clients’ goals, target audience, and budgetary constraints to propose suitable solutions.
  2. Collaborate with clients to develop effective campaigns that align with their objectives and deliver desired results.
  3. Provide excellent customer service, addressing client inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally.
  4. Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure their satisfaction, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.

Campaign Coordination and Execution:

  1. Work closely with internal teams, such as creative, production, and traffic departments, to coordinate the execution of sales campaigns.
  2. Brief the creative team on clients’ requirements and ensure that deliverables are produced to meet quality standards and deadlines.
  3. Monitor the progress and performance of sales campaigns, making necessary adjustments to optimize results.
  4. Track and analyze sales metrics and provide clients with campaign performance reports and insights.

Market Research and Industry Knowledge:

  1. Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and competitors’ activities to identify new business opportunities.
  2. Conduct market research and analysis to understand target audiences, consumer behaviour, and sales trends.
  3. Share industry insights and recommendations with clients to help them make informed decisions about their strategies.

Administrative Tasks:

  1. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and revenue forecasts using CRM systems or other designated tools.
  2. Collaborate with the billing and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate invoicing and payment collection from clients.
  3. Attend team meetings, training sessions, and industry events to enhance skills, knowledge, and professional development.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Advertising, or a related field.
  2. At least 3years working experience or B.Sc. with 5years working experience.
  3. Proven experience in advertising sales, preferably in a media house or advertising agency.
  4. Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a track record of achieving sales targets and building successful client relationships.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to articulate advertising strategies effectively.
  6. In-depth knowledge of the media industry, advertising principles, and various advertising platforms.
  7. Familiarity with market research and analytics tools to gather insights and measure campaign effectiveness.
  8. Proficiency in using CRM software, sales management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  9. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  10. Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
