FairMoney is building the leading mobile bank for emerging markets. We started with a digital microcredit application on Android, and currently roll out additional financial services (current account, savings, debit card) while expanding the product to Western Africa and South-East Asia.

Job Position: Senior Accountant

Job Summary

  1. FairMoney is at the forefront of revolutionising banking in emerging markets with our credit-led mobile banking platform. Our primary operations began in Nigeria, where we have made significant strides since our inception in 2017, raising nearly €50 million.
  2. The Finance department at FairMoney is a key component in this mission to provide banking services to all consumers across emerging markets.
  3. Finance drives the reporting, the strategic analysis and the financial operations to make FairMoney’s mission possible. We are currently looking for a senior accountant:

Job Responsibilities
Monthly Management Reporting:

  1. Review the monthly management report prepared by accountants and sign off.
  2. Ensure relevant schedules support the items on the financial statement.
  3.  Investigate and explain variances.

Taxation:

  1. Update tax policies as may be required.
  2. Ensure PAYE, Pension, WHT and VAT are appropriately deducted and remitted.
  3. Manage the current income and deferred tax computation with the support of consultants.
  4. Carry out tax planning and arrange transactions to ensure the tax burden is optimised.
  5. Manage tax audits and desk reviews with the support of a consultant.
  6. Ensure annual and monthly filings are done on or before due dates.

Finance Operation:

  1. Carry out cash planning to ensure that expenses and obligations are met as needed.
  2. Ensure excess cash is passed to the Treasurer for investment.
  3. Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and accounting policy manuals as may be required.
  4. Manage the transaction processing team and ensure transactions are processed promptly.

Year-End Close/Statutory Audits:

  1. Support year-end close and annual statutory audit.

Job Requirements

  1. A qualified accountant (ACCA, ICAN).
  2.  Have Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
  3.  Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in audit or the financial services industry.
  4. Strong experience in tax practice will be an added advantage.
  5. Be an effective team player with a positive attitude.
  6. Must be able to work without supervision.
