Job Position: Senior Backend Engineer

Job Description

  • Our SDK is shipped on over 10k apps, and our APIs receive more than 20 billion requests per month, and our dashboard and tools are trusted by thousands of developers to make business decisions.
  • We are looking for a full-stack engineer to join our team and help design, build, ship and support end to end features and products that will help developers grow their business. We want to bring somebody with a product mindset, passionate about shipping products, and is comfortable moving between codebases and technologies to get the job done.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Meet frequently with your team and mentor to get up to speed.
  2. Setup and familiarize yourself with repositories, task management, the dev environment.
  3. Implement and ship your first project.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the RevenueCat dashboards, logging, debugging tools, cloud providers, infrastructure management and general architecture.
  5. Familiarize yourself with workflows and subscription business concepts.

Within the first 3 months, you’ll:

  1. Be able to scope and work on projects self-sufficiently.
  2. Learn the basics of incident response, and be part of the on-call rotation.
  3. Participate in code reviews, and contribute in other ways (testing, visibility, etc.) to improve reliability and quality of the codebase.
  4. Understand every product owned by your team.
  5. Understand and improve many of the codebases that the team works with.

Within the first 6 months, you’ll:

  1. Review code, create proposals, and contribute to architectural discussions.
  2. Contribute to the team roadmap and technical direction.
  3. Be an expert on a couple of your team’s focus areas.
  4. Have shipped a major product or feature.

Within the first 12 months, you’ll:

  1. Know all the major components of our system and be able to debug complex issues.
  2. Have your own initiatives for improving our products, understanding the current issues and priorities.
  3. Be able to spec and architect medium-large projects, gather feedback and design validation and rollout plans.
  4. Mentor other engineers joining the team.
  5. Influence the org to improve general reliability, scalability and performance.

Job Requirements

  1. You have 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer.
  2. You have experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
  3. You are comfortable writing and debugging SQL.
  4. You’ve have some experience with the frontend and SPA applications.
  5. You love shipping good products.
  6. You have excellent command of at least one of the mainstream programming languages.
  7. You know how to ship high quality code using good testing practices in iterative cycles.
  8. You collaborate well with others and can communicate effectively in a fully-remote culture.
  9. You are proactive. When you see something broken, you jump on it to fix it or suggest improvements.
  10. You are versatile and a fast learner.

Bonus:

  1. You have experience in Python.
  2. You have experience in React.
  3. You have experience in PostgreSQL.
