Job Position: Senior Human Resources (HR) Administrator

Job Location: Abuja

Job Description

  1. Reporting directly to the Senior HR Specialist, the Senior HR Administrator being a mid-level in hierarchy, is a dynamic role that will support functions around maintenance of employee records, use and update of databases for decision making and reporting, facilitation of assigned recruitment processes, onboarding and offboarding coordination as well as performance management, Learning and development support.
  2. Part of the functions will also entail response to employee inquiries about benefits and other employee relation affairs in line with the organization’s policy for proper conduct.
  3. Overall, the role is to ensure smooth HR operations and provide support to the HR department while discharging the responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional and cross-functional core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity.

Program / Practice / Department Overview

  • This role is based in the head office in Abuja, Nigeria supporting all locally implemented projects by TechnoServe in Nigeria.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Senior HR specialist to develop, update and ensure adherence to the local Employee policy handbook while maintaining regular communication and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  2. Together with the Senior HR specialist, facilitate the annual performance review process to provide training and ensure evaluations are completed in a professional and timely manner.
  3. Facilitate with managers in hiring new staff including contract templates, required onboarding protocols and new hire orientations.
  4. Regularly ensure compliance with local labor laws and tax regulations.
  5. Support in the management of leave administration.
  6. Contribute efficiently to the roll out of all aspects of existing local benefit plans.
  7. Ensure efficient use of all aspects of HQ HRIS protocols including timely and accurate entries; secure storage of other personnel information / files required by local laws.
  8. Proactively and confidentially assist in managing employee relation issues.
  9. Apply offboarding procedures for departing staff.
  10. Adapt in providing solutions to evolving HR needs in line with internal and external changes as they apply to the organization.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Sociology, Business Management, or related field with 2 years’ experience. Alternatively, 4 years proven experience in a Human Resources position.
  2. Strong knowledge and usage of MSOffice skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook with good knowledge of HR information system software packages.
  3. Good application of interpersonal and communication skills with management and employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with NGO or INGO donor funded projects as plus.
  2. Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
  3. Good understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures.
  4. Proficient in MS Office and Google workspace package.
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude.
  7. Strong ethics and reliability.
  8. HR Certification as a plus.

  5. Technical skills required include being able to interpret at a basic level, HR documents for advice.

  8. At least basic understanding of office formats and processes.
  9. Demonstrated ability to document and implement processes and procedures.
  10. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
