Job Position: Senior IT Operations Engineer
Job Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the operations team, overseeing work assignments and performance evaluations of team members.
- Ensure stable operation of infrastructure components such as servers, networks, and databases, monitor system performance, and promptly address issues and incidents.
- Develop and execute contingency plans to swiftly restore normal operations during system failures or network interruptions.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and scalability, ensuring systems meet business requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline routine tasks and enhance work efficiency.
- Manage security policies, ensure system and data security, monitor potential security risks, and implement appropriate preventive and corrective measures.
- Participate in formulating IT infrastructure development strategies, evaluating the feasibility of new technologies and solutions, and providing recommendations.
- Continuously improve and optimize operations processes, ensuring the best work efficiency and resource utilization.
- Provide emergency support, assist in resolving critical issues, and offer technical guidance and training.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in system operations and management, with a preference for those with team management experience.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems, possessing strong skills in Shell scripting.
- Familiarity with network architecture and security, experience in setting up VPNs, network packet capturing, and expertise in troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, Docker, and the ability to maintain K8S clusters.
- Understanding of CI/CD processes and tools, familiarity with deployment workflows and standards to effectively avoid release failures.
- Basic programming skills, preferably in languages like Python, Java, or other scripting languages.
- Effective communication skills and a strong spirit of teamwork, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving ability, maintaining composure and making quick decisions in high-pressure environments.
