Mosra Energy Limited Nigeria (MEL) is a well-established coal mining company with over 15 years of experience in the industry. We are operating coal mines in Kogi and Delta States. In addition to our current operations, we have several other coal blocks under exploration in Nsukka/Udenu, Enugu State, Dekina LGA, Kogi State, and Ogbadibo LGA, Benue State.

Job Position: Software Engineer
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Objective

We are looking for a Software Engineer – Java to join our innovative development team

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and efficient applications that enable utility companies to enhance operational performance, customer experience, and revenue assurance.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions for electricity distribution and energy management systems.
  2. Optimise system performance and reliability for handling large datasets from smart grids and metering infrastructure.
  3. Implement robust data analytics and reporting modules for energy consumption, loss detection, and revenue assurance.
  4. Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards
  5. Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  6. Stay updated with the latest technologies in IoT, SCADA, data analytics, and power automation systems relevant to electricity utilities.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. First degree in Computer Science, Engineering or technical skills required for this role
  2. Minimum of 5 – 6 years of software development experience, preferably in energy, power, or utilities-focused software projects.
  3. Proven experience with software solutions for power distribution, metering, or energy billing systems.
  4. Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript (Node.js, React, or Angular).
  5. Experience working with databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and API integration.
  6. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps tools (Git, Docker, Jenkins).
  7. Understanding of IoT protocols, data streaming, and integration with
  8. metering infrastructure (AMI/MDMS) is an added advantage.
  9. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
