Job Position: Solar Project Engineer

Job Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Description

  1. Services to be performed by the CONTRACTOR shall include the following, but without limitation:
  2. Manages the design of solar projects from point of award to point of handover
  3. The jobholder visits company and/ or client sites to carry out engineering assessment and prepare engineering reports identifying the work scope
  4. Defines work scope recommendations and project proposals
  5. The jobholder carries out engineering analysis, design and calculations for projects that have such requirements. The jobholder also oversees the preparation of the required engineering drawings.
  6. Works with the solar business team on the technical specifications of any solar project being prospected
  7. Prepares cost estimates based on the aforementioned, and will define BOQ and tender requirements with Quantity Surveyor
  8. Provides all necessary engineering assistance to contractors in compliance with company policies and regulations
  9. Manage and organise interventions of different contractors and suppliers in the project
  10. Propose and supervise implementation of solar projects, customer location, and electrical projects or installations in company sites or as directed.
  11. Conducts site visits, inspect works, organises and directs site meetings along with final project commissioning
  12. Acts as the on-site technical representative to TotalEnergies
  13. Ensure that works are done in compliance with safety regulations and quality requirements
  14. Appraises contractors at the completion of project
  15. Acts as the first link between the contractor and company for the project
  16. Ensures that all the materials and data required for proper job execution are made available to the contractor
  17. Controls that equipment, materials and data required for proper job execution are made available to the contractor
  18. The jobholder follows up on the payment of the contractors and prepares financial statement for projects executed

Context and Environment:

  1. The Project Engineer shall be based in the company’s head office but will be required to visit any of the company’s or customer sites at various locations all over the country where his attention is required from time to time.
  2. The Project Engineer shall liaise with Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Installation and Plant Maintenance Manager and Solar Business Solutions Manager.
  3. Favorable: Strong group standards and guidelines, teamwork, available budget; Challenges: gap between group standards and environmental standards, (non) availability of materials, equipment, competent contractors, socio economic issues specific to Nigeria,

Accountabilities:

  1. The Solar Project Engineer is ultimately accountable to the company ensuring that all major and minor projects are executed safely, qualitatively, timely and at optimal cost.
  2. Deliver projects according to Total and best professional standards.
  3. The Solar Project Engineer is responsible to the Renewable Explorer in the discharge of his/her duties, in order to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures with respect to project executions and appraisals.
  4. Committed to Total Golden Rules and the use of STOP Cards

Job Requirements

  1. B.Eng./ B.Sc. in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or its equivalent
  2. Registration with professional body, necessary but not compulsory.
  3. Computer literacy (AutoCAD).
