Job Position: Technical Design Assistant (Architect & Mechanical)
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will support engineers, designers, and production teams by assisting with equipment maintenance, product development, documentation, and quality assurance processes.
This role requires strong organisational skills, technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth technical operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the engineering and production teams, including troubleshooting equipment issues and assisting with machinery setup and installation.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on production equipment, tools, and machinery (including generators).
- Create, update, and organise technical documentation such as product specifications, assembly guides, and equipment manuals.
- Assist in product quality assurance by supporting quality control checks, identifying defects, and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production, design, sales, and other departments to ensure technical requirements are met for product development and manufacturing.
- Support new product development activities, including prototype building, material testing, and functionality evaluations.
- Manage technical files, perform data entry, and carry out administrative duties to support technical and operational workflows.
- Train and guide new hires, interns, and team members on equipment use, processes, and safety procedures.
- Research industry trends, materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other technical or operational duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support, production support, or engineering assistant role, preferably in furniture, construction, manufacturing, or design industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit, or similar) is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills for documentation, reporting, and cross-team collaboration.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities to manage varied responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to support tasks that involve equipment handling, prototype build-up, or material movement.
- Portfolio Submission: Applicants must submit a portfolio showcasing creativity and technical capability (e.g., product sample, completed project, prototype, or concept work).
