Society for Family Health (SFH) is one of the leading non-governmental public health organisations in Nigeria, implementing programmes in Reproductive Health/Family Planning, HIV & AIDS prevention and treatment, malaria prevention and treatment, primary health care system strengthening and maternal, newborn and child health care. Job Position: Technical Malaria Director

Job Location: Jigawa

Job Description 

  1. The Technical Malaria Director is a leadership role responsible for providing technical direction, oversight, and strategic guidance for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of malaria control and prevention programs.
  2. Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director , the Technical Malaria Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective design and execution of comprehensive malaria interventions.
  3. The key accountabilities for this role are technical leadership, program management and capacity building.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic leadership for the development and implementation of innovative and effective malaria control interventions.
  2. Shape and implement evidence-based strategies to achieve program goals and objectives.
  3. Provide technical expertise in malaria prevention, case management, vector control, and surveillance.
  4. Ensure adherence to global and national malaria policies and guidelines and stay abreast of the latest advancements in malaria research and technology.
  5. Integrate innovative approaches to enhance program effectiveness.
  6. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of program activities.
  7. Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of program staff.
  8. Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  9. Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems for malaria programs; identify challenges and propose solutions for improvement.
  10. Utilize data for evidence-based decision-making and program improvement.

Job Requirements

  1. Advanced Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing and implementing malaria control programs.
  3. Proven leadership experience in a technical role within the public health sphere.
  4. Previous experience working in international or multi-country settings.
  5. Familiarity with Global Fund or other international funding mechanisms for malaria programs.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of malaria control strategies, interventions, and best practices.
  2. Ability to think strategically and translate vision into actionable plans.
  3. Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team towards achieving common goals.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  5. Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Results oriented with commitment to achieving tangible and measurable results in malaria control programs.

  1. Willingness to travel occasionally, as needed.
