Job Position: Generator Mechanic / Technician

Job Responsibilities
- The Generators Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all combustion engine power generation equipment, whether prime power or stand-by power.
- Will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to keep equipment operating at peak efficiency.
- Will use various key performance indicators (KPIs) such as oil analysis, fuel testing and analysis; noise, vibration and temperature monitoring, fuel consumption, and exhaust monitoring to determine performance level and service needs.
- Inspects, tests, evaluates, calibrates and updates generator systems to improve reliability and to assure dependability and safety and compliance.
- Will test all generators under load each month to assure they are ready for emergency conditions that might arise. Orders fuel, spare parts, and expendable supplies needed for generator operations and maintenance.
- Responds to 24-hour emergency calls to repair prime and back-up power generator systems during off-duty hours.
- Assists in planning and scheduling of generator service and major overhauls.
- Monitoring gauges and meters to ensure that the generator is operating efficiently.
- Performing routine maintenance checks and services on generators, such as oil changes and filter replacements.
- Installing new generators or replacing parts in existing generators to keep them functioning properly.
- Maintaining electrical systems and components, such as replacing fuses or fixing wiring problems.
- Operating and maintaining equipment used to provide electricity during power outages or emergencies.
- Responding to problems with the generator or other electrical equipment as needed.
- Operating and monitoring computerized controls for generators to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Troubleshooting problems with electrical or mechanical equipment to locate the source of the issue.
- Monitoring fuel consumption and ordering additional fuel as needed.
Job Requirements
- Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree / HND qualification.
- 5 – 15 years work experience.
