Job Position: Travel Intern

Job Locations: Abuja

Job Description

  • The Intern will assist the Travel Manager in providing services related to domestic and international travels for the FHI staff so as to ensure effective and efficient internal and external movement of staff.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Travel Manager and represent and negotiate FHI interests to current and prospective travel agencies.
  2. Work with travel agency as needed to obtain cost-effective international tickets and hotel reservations.
  3. Assist in liaison with travel agency regarding services and equipment used in the Travel Office and with accounting budget information related to travel.
  4. Assist in the arrangement of hotel accommodation (in Abuja) for FHI 360 employees, consultants etc.
  5. With Travels Manager participate in the periodical survey and update of hotel information at the state level.
  6. Assist in the creating, keeping and managing a database of important/relevant addresses and contacts (e.g. Embassies, High Commissions, UN Agencies, Development Agencies, Implementing Partners, etc.).
  7. Assist in fuel reconciliation and monthly report
  8. Perform other related activities assigned

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc. / BA / HND in Business Administration, the Social Sciences.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of basic accounting and all phases of travel agency operations, including automated systems.
  2. Knowledge of geography and travel coordination for states in Nigeria, developing countries, USAID and other donor travel regulations.
  3. Interact with diplomacy and tact and follow-up on requests in timely and efficient manner. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  4. Written and verbal communication skills. Relevant computer software skills with proficiency in excel. Ability to travel in Nigeria minimum of 25%.
