Job Position: Underwriting Officer

Job Location: Lagos

Job Responsibilities

1. Analyze insurance applications to evaluate the level of risk involved.
2. Assess factors such as the applicant’s health, financial status, and lifestyle to determine insurability.
3. Review insurance policies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
4. Verify that policy applications comply with underwriting guidelines and regulations.
5. Utilize statistical models and data analysis to assess risk and make informed decisions.
6. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in underwriting standards.
7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of underwriting decisions and supporting documentation.
8. Prepare reports on underwriting activities and present findings to management.
9. Monitor policy renewals and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.

Job Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in underwriting.
3. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
7. Proficiency in using underwriting software and data analysis tools.
8. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
