Job Position: Wells Engineer

Job Description
The successful candidate will support drillwell opportunity generation and maturation – work program planning and execution covering drilling, completions, and workover scopes.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Ensuring the application of the best available economical technology in drilling, completions, and workover operations.
  2. Preparing well cost estimates, equipment selection and application, program execution surveillance, improvement of daily progress and follow-up assessments.
  3. Preparing, and revising, when necessary, a complete drilling or completions or workover program. Work closely with cross-functional teams to assure the program is based on all available geological and reservoir information from offset wells in the area (if any).
  4. Monitoring drilling, completion, or workover operations according to safety and quality control standards, environmental regulations, corporate policy, and contract terms.
  5. Providing rig site technical support to Wells Operations Supervisors during procedure execution activities including but not limited to critical well construction and intervention operations, well control situations or abnormal pressure detection.
  6. Analyzing execution performance at intermediate depths and upon completion of the well. Work with Operations personnel and third-party service partners to implement changes in procedures and equipment based on results of analyses.
  7. Devising cost-effective techniques to drill, complete, and rework company-operated wells.
  8. Preparing final well reports with strong emphasis on lessons learned.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Strong drilling and completion engineering background with the ability to assure application of the best available economical technology during planning and execution phases.
  2. Strong analytical skills with ability to source, analyse and interpret benchmark data.
  3. Self-motivated with the ability to make effective individual contributions within a functional team
  4. Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications

Other Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second Class Upper Division (2.1) in any of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Petroleum, Electrical/Electronics, and Subsea.
  2. Minimum of 5 continuous years of drilling, completion, and cognate operations experience. Advanced technical skills in Wells Engineering including directional drilling, borehole management, casing and tubing design, cementing, abnormal pressure detection, bit selection, drilling and completion fluids, sand control techniques, well intervention, etc.
  3. Well-rounded knowledge and exposure to completion and workover activities and ability to work in and develop all phases of the operations; from well design and planning to execution.
  4. Excellent computer skills – familiarity with relevant drilling and completion engineering software and applications.
  5. Good understanding of basic safety practices in oil and gas offshore operations.
  6. Ability to work within a team with good interpersonal skills and to thrive in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment.
  7. Support creativity and possess good coordination skills.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Uncompromising integrity.
  10. NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  11. Readiness to work in our various work locations.
