Job Position: Zonal Manager, DSR Numan Operation

Job Summary

  1. The Dangote Sugar Numan Operation is looking for a dedicated and results-oriented Zonal Manager for the DSR NUMAN OPERATIONS to lead our operations in the zone and drive performance excellence.
  2. In this role, you will oversee and manage all operational activities, ensuring that the company’s strategic objectives are met while maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.
  3. General Supervision and Management of all Farm Estate areas, and to ensure operations in each field are coordinated and planned to give optimum utilisation of Labour, materials and equipment.

Job  Responsibilities

  1. Timely execution of crop management and activities like weeding, herbicide application, fertiliser application and middle busting, etc. in cost cost-effective manner to ensure maximum production and achieve the targeted varietal percentage with varietal purity.
  2. Planning and execution of all the activities related to cane production in the estate.
  3. Continuous improvement in mechanical operations from planting to harvest.
  4. Effective utilisation of all inputs and manpower in the field by motivating the team to attain high performance. Continuously strive to improve methods of cultivation of sugar cane with minimum cost.
  5. Benchmarking the field-level activities towards continual improvement of operational efficiencies.
  6. Compile and submit a monthly work plan and monthly productivity reports for his area to the Head of Agriculture.
  7. Coordinates Land development, Field preparation, planting and maintenance of sugarcane in all sections in his/her area. Planning, preparation, & Compilation of the budget and implementation of the approved budget effectively.
  8. Coordination with other sections of the department to execute the farming operations in time.
  9. Maintain harmonious relationships with the Farm In charges, Supervisory staff, labour and their representative bodies to ensure uninterrupted operations and high efficiency. To strictly enforce compliance with the policy guidelines of the company.
  10. Ensure proper compliance with all safety procedures in the field.
  11. Maintain strict control and monitor closely the engagement of casual labour in the field for agricultural operations to ensure efficiency without any malpractices.
  12. Ensure continuous protection of estate property, assets, resources and boundaries.
  13. Submission of daily reports on the work progress.
  14. Identification and execution of the training requirements of team members. Initiation of incentive schemes to motivate the team towards the accomplishment of organisational goals.
  15. Monitoring the intensity of pests and diseases & execution of needed control measures.
  16. Reporting to the Head Agric., Fixing the KFAs to Farm managers & Agric. officers.
  17. Supervise and coordinate the work of all the Farm In charges, reporting directly to him by setting reporting Procedures & formats based on their KFAs and Fixation of necessary guidelines & instructions to accomplish the organisational goals.
  18. Supervise and manage a distinct all-farm estate area to ensure efficient utilisation of labourers, materials and equipment.
  19. Assist the HOD in implementing the programme and activities of the department at the appropriate time.
  20. Ensure that analysis of soil type is carried out and determine the irrigation cycle required, diking, fertiliser & other inputs needed for maximum output.
  21. Ensure all safety measures are in place and PPE is worn.
  22. Ensure all SOPs are followed.
  23. Ensure the required manpower for the department’s activities is provided through liaising with the HR department.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  1. M.Sc. Agric. or Degree (B.Sc) in any Agric. Related courses.
  2. Any relevant professional certificate is an added advantage.
  3. 15-20 Years working experience in the sugar industry, out of which 5 years’ experience in handling large-scale farm management.
  4. Effective Communication skills
