Job Position: Chartered Accountant – Head of Finance
Location: Lagos (Hybrid)

Job Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:

  1. Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s objectives.
  2. Advise the board and executive management on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities.
  3. Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  1. Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and regulatory standards.
  2. Ensure full compliance with tax, statutory, and financial reporting obligations.
  3. Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and tax authorities as required.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  1. Manage company cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships, and treasury operations.
  2. Monitor and control working capital, ensuring optimal cash utilisation.

Internal Controls and Risk Management:

  1. Establish, monitor, and improve internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency.
  2. Identify and mitigate financial risks proactively.

Leadership and Team Management:

  1. Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals (minimum of 10 staff).
  2. Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  3. Identify training and development needs for team capacity building.

Business Support and Analysis:

  1. Provide financial analysis and decision support to business units.
  2. Drive cost management and profitability analysis across departments.
  3. Participate in strategic business initiatives and project evaluations.

Systems and Process Improvement:

  1. Oversee the use of ERP or financial systems for reporting and control.
  2. Drive automation and process improvement within the finance function.

Requirements
Educational & Professional Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. Must be a Chartered Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, ICAN).
  3. A master’s degree in Finance or a similar field is compulsory

Experience:

  1. Minimum of 10 years’ experience heading a finance function in a medium-sized organisation.
  2. Proven experience in supervising at least a team of 10 staff.
  3. Demonstrated track record in financial strategy, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  2. Excellent knowledge of financial principles, standards, and reporting.
  3. Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  5. Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
