Job Position: DevOps Engineer
Location: Lagos

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic technology team, a fast-growing microfinance institution leveraging technology to enhance financial inclusion.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in automating, streamlining, and optimising our development and deployment processes.

You will work closely with software developers, system operators, and other IT staff to manage code releases, ensure system reliability, and improve infrastructure performance.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable software delivery.
  2. Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  3. Monitor system performance and ensure high availability, scalability, and security across environments.
  4. Manage and optimise cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  5. Implement and maintain robust logging, monitoring, and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  6. Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of applications.
  7. Develop and enforce DevOps best practices for version control, testing, and release management.
  8. Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis to maintain system stability.
  9. Maintain and improve containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  10. Ensure compliance with data security, regulatory, and internal IT policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role.
  3. Strong hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  4. Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration.
  5. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  6. Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
  7. Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Shell.
  8. Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
  9. Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  10. Knowledge of networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancers.
  11. Good understanding of security best practices in cloud and DevOps environments.

Nice to Have:

  1. Experience in financial services, fintech, or microfinance environments.
  2. Knowledge of microservices architecture and serverless computing.
  3. Experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
  4. Familiarity with compliance and audit requirements for banking infrastructure.
