The Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund (WF) was created in 2011 to increase the representation of women in Nigerian governance at all levels and address the growing concerns about the gender imbalance in elective and appointive positions. The goal of the Fund is to institutionalize access to resources for women in politics in Nigeria.

Job Position: ICT (Software Development) Consultant

Job Description

  1. As an ICT (Software Development) Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and implementation of innovative software solutions.
  2. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, design system architectures, and develop robust software application that meet our organization’s needs.
  3. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support throughout the software development lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, progress, and any potential risks or issues.
  2. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements.
  3. Set up a data base to collate existing statistics and compare with new ones on 35 percent Affirmative Action.
  4. Design, develop, and maintain scalable a software solution.
  5. Implement robust code using best practices and coding standards to ensure high performance, security, and maintainability.
  6. Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software applications to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components and ensure seamless functionality across systems.
  8. Create comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, API specifications, and user manuals.
  9. Document code changes, updates, and version control to facilitate knowledge sharing and future maintenance.
  10. Provide ongoing maintenance and support for deployed applications, including troubleshooting issues, implementing updates, and optimizing performance.
  11. Monitor system performance and security, proactively identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities or performance bottlenecks.
  12. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  13. Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.


  1. Design and develop scalable and efficient software solutions based on project requirements and specifications.
  2. Provide clear and concise documentation of software design decisions, rationale, and implementation details.
  3. Support the deployment of software applications to production environments, including configuration, installation, and monitoring.
  4. Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to share expertise and best practices with team members and stakeholders.
  5. Provide training and support to end-users as needed to ensure effective utilization of software solutions.
  6. An end of contract report.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


  1. Proven experience in software development, with expertise in JavaScript (Node.js), Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle and C/C++.
  2. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  5. Experience with Agile development methodologies is preferred.
  6. Knowledge and/or Nigerian and global development contexts
  7. Strong research skills and ability to work with partners across the country to generate content.
  8. Experience in working with an international development organization/NGO/CSO would be beneficial.
  9. Commitment to NWTF’s mission, vision and values; displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability; highest standard of integrity, discretion and loyalty.
  10. Possess solid political acumen, but not partisan.

Core skills:

  1. Knowledge of women’s human rights instruments (international and national).
  2. Strong research, writing, analysis skills in the substantive area
  3. Knowledge of the 6 April Judgement in favour of Nigerian women on the 35 percent affirmative action.
