Job Position: Petroleum Manager
Location: Lagos
Job Descriptions
- The Petroleum Laboratory Manager is responsible for leading and managing all lab activities related to testing petroleum and petrochemical products.
- This includes making sure tests are accurate, staff follow safety rules, equipment works properly, and all operations meet quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
- Make sure all tests follow industry standards (ASTM, IP, ISO).
- Supervise and support lab staff with training, guidance, and performance reviews.
- Check and approve test results before they are sent to clients.
- Ensure quality control procedures are followed.
- Help solve technical problems during testing.
- Oversee the use, maintenance, and repair of lab equipment.
- Make sure the lab follows all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Keep accurate records of tests and lab activities.
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage lab supplies and order new items when needed.
- Work with other departments to solve issues and improve processes.
- Take part in audits, inspections, and staff meetings.
- Train staff on new methods and safety procedures.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in a petroleum testing lab, with 3+ years in a leadership role
- Knowledge of ASTM, IP, and ISO testing methods
- Experience managing teams and lab operations
- Familiarity with LIMS or other lab software is a plus
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
