Job Position: Research Assistant
Location: Lagos

Job Summary

The Research Assistant provides vital support in gathering, analysing, and organising information to ensure the accuracy, depth, and credibility of publications and projects.

This role involves conducting in-depth research, verifying facts, developing content outlines, and assisting writers or editors in producing high-quality, well-informed materials.

The Research Assistant works closely with the Managing Director to turn data and stories into compelling, insightful narratives(especially on Biography Projects).

Job Responsibilities

  1. Conduct Research by collecting, analysing, and synthesising information from credible sources.
  2. To Fact-Check data to ensure factual accuracy in all written content.
  3. He or she will assist writers and editors by developing outlines, timelines, and background materials for articles, books, or documentaries and maintain a well-organised database of research findings, references, and interview transcripts.
  4. Also, the applicant should be able to support story development by identifying key subjects and conducting preliminary interviews when required, Proofread and edit drafts to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with the publication’s tone and purpose, collaborate with the creative and production teams to align research findings with storytelling goals and prepare concise summaries, briefs, and reports for internal or external use.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of B.A or B.Sc qualification (Post-graduate Diploma will be an advantage).
  2. Good spoken and written communication skills.
  3. Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet use).
  4. Must be trustworthy, discreet, and dependable.
  5. Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
  6. Proximity to the job location in Lagos is an added advantage.
  7. He or she must be able to handle sensitive or unpublished information with discretion and integrity.

Preferred:

  1. Prior experience is an added advantage.
