Job Position: Senior Metering Manager

Job Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  1. The Senior Metering Manager will oversee various aspects related to network and customer metering activities within the Company’s franchise area.
  2. The successful candidate will ensure the accuracy and reliability of metering systems, compliance with regulations, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a focus on optimizing metering processes to support efficient and reliable services.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the installation, maintenance, and calibration of utility meters.
  2. Ensure metering systems meet accuracy and reliability standards.
  3. Stay current with industry regulations and standards.
  4. Implement and enforce processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Explore and implement new metering technologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  6. Work with IT and engineering teams to integrate advanced metering systems.
  7. Utilize metering data to analyze consumption patterns and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  8. Collaborate with data analysts to extract valuable insights for decision-making.
  9. Effectively communicate with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and utility customers regarding metering operations and changes.
  10. Address and resolve inquiries or concerns related to metering services.
  11. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for metering operations.
  12. Collaborate with other departments such as finance, operations, and IT to ensure the seamless integration of metering activities with overall business operations.
  13. Develop metering procurement frameworks for the Company and manage procurement activities.
  14. Review any new major contracts or internal business proposals relating to metering initiatives.
  15. Collaborate with customer service teams to address metering-related inquiries and concerns from customers; and
  16. Collaborate with security and anti-theft teams to implement measures to detect and prevent electricity theft or metering tampering.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent of same in practical experience.
  • 10+ years of cognate experience in metering operations and management within the electricity distribution sector.
  • Strong background in problem solving and time management
  • Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) qualification or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English.

Note that applicants who meet the following criteria will have an added advantage:

  • 10 years or more in a supervisory role – Extensive experience from a relevant sector.
  • Strong knowledge of metering technologies, regulations, and industry standards
  • Familiarity with smart metering systems and emerging technologies in the energy sector
  • PMP Certification.
  • Fluency in Hausa.

Technical Competencies:

  1. Strong data analysis skills to interpret metering data, identify consumption patterns, and extract meaningful insights for decision-making
  2. In-depth technical knowledge of electricity distribution systems, power quality, and metering infrastructure.
  3. Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to lead and motivate a team of metering technicians and specialists.
  4. Project management skills to effectively contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the overall performance of the electricity distribution network.
  5. Experience in developing and managing budgets for metering activities, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and financial responsibility.
  6. Strong problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges, resolve issues efficiently, and implement corrective actions.
